Michael Moecker brings over thirty years of management experience to his position as Chairman and CEO of Michael Moecker & Associates, Inc. Prior to founding Michael Moecker & Associates, he was the President and member of the board of directors of the National Association of Credit Management of Florida, Inc. With his extensive knowledge and vast case experience, Michael decided to fill an important market need by creating the company.
Michael is a seasoned executive who has served as an Assignee, a court appointed Receiver, and Secretary to Creditor’s Committee in Bankruptcy and informal workouts. He frequently oversees the interim management of businesses, such as Church Street Station in Orlando and also serves as a Liquidating Trustee in bankruptcy cases. Michael has been an assignee for a number of high profile cases at the company, always ensuring their swift resolution.
As President of Michael Moecker & Associates, Donald Kaplan is an industry veteran with a diverse background and extensive experience in business management and asset liquidation. Donald gained invaluable experience in this industry as Executive Vice President and a member of the board of directors of The National Association of Credit Management of Florida. Prior to this position, Donald was the Vice President of Mayfair Supermarket, a large grocery store co-op in the Northeast. This diverse experience allows Donald to bring a unique perspective to the assignments received by the company, facilitating their timely and efficient resolution.
Michael Phelan, a Harvard MBA, joined the company in 1999. He serves as the Executive V.P. and COO and is responsible for overseeing every aspect of company operations. Michael has spent the majority of his career as a business consultant helping small and mid-sized companies through the challenges of planning, marketing and financing. In addition, he brings to MMA extensive experience in stabilizing companies facing financial difficulties as a result of his background in turnaround management.
Michael has managed highly complex assignment cases in his role as EVP of MMA, including assignments outside of Florida and cases with large asset pools located overseas. Michael is involved in all aspects of MMA operations and serves as an assignee, receiver, liquidating trustee, handles out of court work-out agreements and oversees the company’s subsidiaries. Michael has also been appoined by bankruptcy courts as Chapter 11 Trustee, Examiner, Liquidating Trustee and Creditor's Agent.
As Managing Director, Philip J. von Kahle has been with the company since 2003 and is involved in the day-to-day management of all company functions. He manages Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors as an assignee and executes workout agreements. He also serves as a court appointed receiver, a liquidating trustee and a court examiner. Philip has been a turnaround manager at several firms and he knows what it takes to quickly bring order to a distressed company. As an employee rights advocate in the insolvency process, he works to get employees what they deserve.
Larry S. Hyman is a graduate from the University of Florida and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a Director for Michael Moecker & Associates and has been associated with the company since 1998. Larry has served as a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee in the Middle District of Florida for over 20 years and has administered in excess of 10,000 bankruptcy estates. Larry has also served as a Chapter 11 and Liquidating Trustee, as well as Examiner in numerous bankruptcy matters. In addition, Larry has served as a court appointed Receiver and Assignee for a variety of businesses, in federal and state matters, throughout the State of Florida. Larry is based out of our Tampa office.
